Do you hold my money during a deal?

Accepted Answer

No. Deposits and purchase funds are held by an independent escrow agent or law firm trust account.

Do I need an inspection?

We strongly recommend an independent pre-purchase inspection on every purchase, and we make our offers conditional on one.

Question 3

What does exporting an aircraft from New Zealand mean?

Accepted Answer

In New Zealand, exporting means removing the aircraft from the NZ Register of Aircraft. That can happen while the aircraft is still in New Zealand or after it has left.

Question 4

Can any aircraft receive an export airworthiness certificate?

Accepted Answer

Only aircraft that are type-certificated or type-accepted in New Zealand are eligible, and only the Civil Aviation Authority can issue the certificate.

How long does an import or export take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the CAA, the foreign authority, the engineer and the state of the paperwork. We give you a realistic timeline once we have seen the aircraft's documents.

Question 6

Is GST charged when an aircraft is exported?

Accepted Answer

It can be zero-rated in some circumstances, for example where an aircraft is exported under its own power within the time limits set by Inland Revenue and full documentation is held. Whether it applies to your sale depends on the facts, so we assess each case.

Question 7

Do you charge extra for third-party costs?

Accepted Answer

No mark-up. CAA fees, engineer time, freight, customs broker and legal fees are paid by you or passed through at cost.

Are you a law firm or an engineering organisation?

Accepted Answer

No. We coordinate your transaction and bring in independent specialists for legal, engineering and payment steps.

Question 9

Which aircraft do you handle?

Accepted Answer

Mainly turboprops, light twins and other general aviation aircraft. Contact us if you have something different and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Question 10

Do you work outside New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we support deals involving Australia and the Pacific, with particular attention to the New Zealand registration, export and tax side.
